THE BREAKTHROUGH LOGO
THE ORIGINAL BRANDMARK
During a six month stay in Taiwan, Dr. Bart Sayle took a course in calligraphy. With an interest in Buddhism and Daoism, two characters came together for him — the sun and the moon. The sun symbolises ‘radiance’ and the moon symbolises ‘clarity’.
This led Bart to use the two characters together to signify ‘radiant clarity’, or ‘insight’. These two characters became the basis of the Breakthrough logo and their meaning remain a core part of Breakthrough’s identity.
2017: DEVELOPING THE LOGO
Our new logo circles back to our roots by returning to Zen philosophies and referencing the Enso (a circle which symbolises enlightenment and strength). When the Enso is drawn as an incomplete circle it represents growth, allowing for movement and development.
With nearly 30 years behind us, we wanted to highlight the core values that define Breakthrough while underlining the growth and change we have seen in ourselves and our clients over the years.
